NAWABSHAH: It is the responsibility of every institution to create a respectful environment for women.

This was stated by Federal Ombudsman Secretariat Sindh Chairperson Syeda Sabika Shah while addressing a seminar titled ‘Protection from Harassment’ held at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Nawabshah on Saturday evening.

She said that eliminating sexual harassment of women was their top priority. There was a need for setting up inquiry committees in every institution and raising awareness among employees.

She said that a code of conduct was also being implemented in that regard.

Sabika also said that no one could harass working women, and violators would face punishment and fines.

Varsity Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muddasir Ali Shah said that society could only progress when women were respected.

He reminded that harassment was a criminal offense. He encouraged women to contact the university’s inquiry team in case of any such complain.
