MUZAFFARGARH: Three women members of a family suffered burns in an acid attack here on Monday at Mauza Binda Ishaq inRohillanwali police precincts, some 30 kilometers away from the city area.

The incident occurred when two suspects, Mohammad Imran and Irfan, sons of Bashir Ahmad, allegedly entered the house of Kalsoom Bibi, wife of Mohammad Shafi, while she was sleeping with her children. They threw acid on the victims, resulting in serious injuries to Kalsoom Bibi (50), her daughter Sawera Bibi (20) and niece Sania Bibi (6). The injured were shifted to the hospital for treatment.

According to the first information report, two accomplice of the suspects were present at the scene. Neighbours alerted the police and rescue services, who promptly responded and began their investigation.

The Rohillanwali police have registered a case against the suspects under section 336B of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). A police team is actively working to arrest the suspects.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif took notice of the incident and directed the IG to take immediate action and submit a report.

District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Hasnain Haider confirmed that the case was registered within hours and assured that the suspects would be arrested soon.

Reports said the incident occurred over a minor dispute.
