ISLAMABAD: Over one million customers of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) will get relief of Rs14 per unit in August bills.

According to Iesco spokesperson Raja Asim, the Punjab government has announced Rs14 per unit relief to domestic electricity customers during the billing month of August and September.

“Domestic customers having sanctioned load up to 5kw and monthly electricity consumption between 201 to 500 units during the months of August and September are eligible for this relief,” he said.

Chairman Board of Directors Iesco Dr Tahir Masood said: “In accordance with relief announced by the Punjab government our teams have started distribution of bills along with relief package to customers and 1.071 million Iesco customers during the billing month of August 2024 will get relief.”

He said the Punjab government would pay the amount keeping in view the hardship faced by customers while paying electricity bills.

Dr Masood said if those customers eligible for relief have deposited their full bills the extra paid amount by them would be credited in their coming September bill.

“To ease customers we have also extended the due date of bills. Moreover following the instructions given by the authorities domestic TOD meters, lock premises, net metering, defective meters or customers involvement in power theft are not eligible for this relief. Transparency regarding relief will be observed closely,” he said.
