MANSEHRA: Three people, including two army soldiers, were killed and another sustained injuries when a massive boulder detached from a nearby mountain along Karakoram Highway and rolled down over a passenger coach in Loter area of Upper Kohistan on Monday.

“Two army personnel and a civilian were killed when a landslide hit the passenger coach,” Rescue 1122 official Abdul Rehman said.

The Northern Areas Transport Company’s coach carrying passengers was on its way to Gilgit from Rawalpindi when a massive boulder rolled over it leaving four people seriously injured.

Rescue 1122 personnel along with ambulances rushed to the scene and shifted them to Dasu DHQ hospital, where doctors pronounced Imtiaz Hussain, a resident of Gilgit, and Sangal Hussain, a resident of Yasin area of Ghizer, both stated to be army soldiers, and Sultan Mehmood, resident of Rawalpindi, dead.

Dilshad Qamar, a Rawalpindi resident who received critical injuries, was referred to Ayub Medical Complex Hospital, Abbottabad, where his condition was stated to be out of danger.

Sources said that both soldiers were on their way back home.

Mr Rehman said that the bodies were dispatched to their respective hometowns through ambulances.

On the other hand, a tri-wheeler fell into a deep ravine in the Oghi area here leaving four-year-old Mohammad Hafeez dead and four others injured.

A Rescue 1122 team along with ambulance rushed on the spot and shifted them to Civil Hospital, Oghi, where doctors pronounced the child dead.
