TOBA TEK SINGH: Faisalabad police claimed to have recovered a Class IX student, who was kidnapped for ransom in Madina Town police precincts, by setting up a ‘booby trap’.

Faisalabad investigation SSP Abdul Wahab told reporters on Tuesday that Ayan, son of a trader, Sanaullah, was on way to school on his motorcycle, along with his two sisters, when unidentified persons in a car intercepted them and kidnapped the boy.

He said the kidnappers later telephoned the boy’s father, demanding Rs30 million ransom for his son’s release, and threatened to kill the boy if police were informed of the matter.

However, the boy’s parents brought the matter into the notice of City Police Officer (CPO) Kamran Adil, who immediately formed a team headed by SSP Abdul Wahab to arrest the kidnappers and recover the victim.

The police asked the boy’s father to call the kidnappers and invite them to a place to get the ransom amount.

However, the SSP said, when the two kidnappers, one of them a woman, arrived at the agreed upon place, that was already discreetly surrounded by around 45 policemen, they were arrested by the police.

The kidnappers were identified as Muzammmal and a woman, Salma Nawaz, while raids were being conducted to arrest their accomplices, the SSP added.

The CPO has announced prizes for the police team which safely recovered the boy and arrested the kidnappers.

ROBBER KILLS MAN: A man was killed by a robber near Dera Sayeen graveyard in the Ghulam Muhammadabad area of Faisalabad on Tuesday after another man recognised him and raised an alarm.

The robber snatched Rs10,000 from Bilal, who identified the robber and called for help to catch him.

When people tried to overpower the bandit, he opened fire, shooting a citizen named Zohaib in the head. Zohaib died instantly, and the robber fled.
