DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Highwaymen robbed a passenger bus, which was on way to Quetta from Islamabad, here on Tuesday.
The bus was looted near the Abdulkhel toll plaza on CPEC’s Western Route, a police official said.
He said that Said Khan, 34, a resident of Quetta, who was driving the bus, reported to the Yarik police station that unknown armed robbers stopped the vehicle near the toll plaza, and about seven to eight of them entered the coach while the same number stood outside.
He said the robbers looted cash, mobile phones and watches from the passengers at gunpoint.
The police said the armed robbers also looted millions of rupees, mobile phones, gold ornaments and other valuables from trucks and passenger vehicles.
The police registered an FIR.
Later, the looted passengers blocked the CPEC road near Yarik Interchange. Later, on the assurance of the police that the culprits would be arrested, the passengers ended their protest.
