TOBA TEK SINGH: The Madina Town police in Faisalabad raided the house of trader Sheikh Muhammad Arshad in Eden Valley on Wednesday and rescued two minor maids who were being held in illegal confinement.

According to an FIR registered under sections 354, 509, and 342 of the Pakistan Penal Code, complainant ASI Farhan Ali said a video was posted online showing Arshad publicly beating and forcibly bundling the two minor girls into his car.

The rescued girls, identified as Eiman Fatima, 12, and Manahil, 13, from Muridke, Sheikhupura, told police that they had been tortured and were trying to escape when Arshad chased them, brought them back to his house and locked them in a room, where he tortured them again.

The police will return the maids to their parents.

FDA: Under the Digital Punjab programme, the Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) is set to launch an online system for the approval of residential building plans. This system will allow citizens to submit documents from home for residential colonies under FDA control.

FDA Director General Muhammad Asif chaired a meeting to review the preparations for the online building plan approval system.

The director general stated that the digitisation of FDA records is progressing rapidly and instructed that the online approval system for residential house plans be launched without delay.
