ISLAMABAD: A critically-wounded woman with acid burns was found semi-conscious in a posh area of the capital during early hours of Wednesday, police said.

The 26-year-old woman, who was found naked on Main Double Road F-10, about one and a half kilometres from the Shalimar police station, was a resident of Islamabad and a native of South Punjab.

According to the police, the victim sustained acid burn injuries all over her body, including her face, chest and private parts. A case has been registered with Shalimar police station under section 336-B (Punishment for hurt by corrosive substance) and 354-A (Assault or use of criminal force to woman and stripping her of her clothes), against unidentified person(s), they added.

Earlier, after getting information about the woman lying on the road, the police reached the spot and found her semi-conscious and naked with acid burns on her body. The victim was later shifted to the hospital for medical assistance, they said.

Owing to her condition, the victim is not able to give a statement, including details of the incident and identify the person(s) who is responsible for this, police said.
