SUKKUR: Shah Abdul Latif University’s vice chancellor Prof Dr Yousuf Khushk has said that among all the languages spoken in Pakistan, Sindhi is the second language after Urdu that is more AI-friendly and integrated with Microsoft and Artificial Intelligence.

He was speaking at a one-day workshop on “Construction of Sindhi words: Linking language resources with Artificial Intelligence” organised at Benazir Bhutto Chair in collaboration with Sindhi Department and the Institute of Computer Science at Salu, Khairpur, on Thursday.

Dr Khushk expressed his desire to form a team from among the university students, who would help secure future of Sindhi language. Under the prime minister’s program, various universities of the country were offering scholarships and there was a need for 22,000 Pakistani students in the field of Information Technology, he said.

He said the university students could take advantage of this golden opportunity, improve their family’s well-being, earn livelihood in dollars and contribute to the country’s economy.

Amar Fayaz Buriro, director of the Abdul Majeed Bhurgri Institute of Language Engineering, Hyderabad, provided students information and tips about the AI and answered questions of participants.

The workshop was attended by the deans of the Faculty of Management Sciences and the Faculty of Arts and Languages, Prof Dr Ameer Hussain Shar and Prof Dr Ghulam Mustafa Mashori; Dr Mehr Khadim, Dr Javed Mehr, Dr Hasan Shaikh, students and members of civil society.
