LOWER DIR: The district police continued crackdown against anti-social elements in different parts of the district here the other day.

The Chakdara police arrested one Najibullah of Chakdara and recovered a pistol from him. The Munda police arrested Aqal Ameen and Fazal Hussain and recovered 604 grams and 1047 grams of charas from their possession.

The police arrested Amir Sultan and recovered 728 grams of charas from his possession. The Khall police arrested a drug seller Abdullah and recovered 1615 grams of charas from his possession.

Moreover, the Mayar police arrested an accused namely Noor Mohammad, a resident of Mayar and recovered 1136 grams of charas from his possession. The Talash police also claimed to have arrested a proclaimed offender Shah Wali, a resident of Dherai Talash who was wanted by police for a long time.

ANTI-POLIO DRIVE: Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Arif Khan presided over a meeting at his office regarding the upcoming anti-polio campaign starting from Sept 9.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Bashir Khan, DPO Saleem Abbas Kulachi, DHO Dr Irshad Rughani and other senior officials attended the meeting.

The meeting was informed that a total of 332,570 children would be vaccinated during the drive for which 14,442 teams had been formed.

The deputy commissioner and the district police officer inaugurated the drive by administering polio drops to children.

M PHIL THESIS: An M Phil scholar Mujahid Khan successfully defended his thesis in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Malakand.

The title of his research was ‘A fractional order co-infection model of HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis with a latent class of HIV-1 Infection.’

The external examiner Associate Professor Dr Mohammad Ayaz of Department of Mathematics at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan appreciated the hard work of the scholar.
