ISLAMABAD: Two armed men robbed a woman of cash and valuables on a main road and under the watch of a Safe City camera on Friday.

Police said Sohail Mustafa along with his wife came over to Blue Area and parked his car on the main road in front of the HBL Tower and went inside the State Life Building with his wife waiting in the vehicle.

In the meanwhile, two armed persons riding a motorcycle stopped by and one of them entered the car from the rear door and snatched an iPhone 14 Pro, Samsung Glaxy A10S, Saudi riyals 700 and gold ornament worth Rs350,000 along with a bag containing ATM cards, CNICs and local currency.

After the incident, the woman managed to call his husband from the mobile phone of a passerby and informed him about the incident.

A case was later registered at the Kohsar police station on the complaint of Mr Mustafa. The FIR stated that the incident had been recorded in a Safe City Authority camera installed in front of the tower. However, the police failed to take action against the robbers on time.

It may be noted that a number of theft incidents had also taken place in front of the Safe City cameras in the city, however, the police failed to arrest the culprits, said a police officer on condition of anonymity.
