KARACHI: The Government of Pakistan have taken “a decision” on the proposals made by the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan, Mr Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani, Minister for Kashmir Affairs, told newsmen in Karachi on Tuesday [Sept 6]. The decision was taken in consultation with the Azad Kashmir Government and Supremo Chaudhri Ghulam Abbas. Mr Gurmani characterised the appeals made by President Truman and Premier Attlee to India and Pakistan for the acceptance of these proposals as “a very realistic approach.” He said the replies to their letters would be delivered simultaneously with the reply to the UNCIP.
[Meanwhile,] sixty-year-old statesman Chaudhri Khaliquzzaman will take a message of goodwill and Islamic brotherhood on behalf of the people of Pakistan for their brethren of the Muslim countries when he takes off here on Sept 13 on a two months’ tour of the Middle East and the UK. Believer in Islamic solidarity Chaudhri Khaliquzzaman will sound public opinion for the formation of a people’s organisation representing all Muslim countries of the world with a view to discussing common factors … [and] a common policy which may benefit Islam and the Muslim world.
