LAHORE: Religious scholars on Saturday called upon the Supreme Court to release the detailed judgement in the Mubarak Sani case immediately, expressing doubts over the delay.

Addressing a Khatm-i-Nubuwat Conference, convened by the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) at the sprawling lawns of Greater Iqbal Park, the speakers said that the short order in the case was announced on Aug 22, but the detailed judgement has not come as yet. The JUI-F convened the conference to celebrate what it called its legal victory on the issue.

“It has been 15 days since the short decision was announced but the detailed judgement is still awaited,” the ulema said in their speeches, adding that “it is causing unease among the religious circles”.

They claimed that the court was misled twice before the religious scholars intervened to help correct the decision. They said the delay is a source of anxiety and urged the court to note of the situation.

“Otherwise, all those, who defended the finality of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) in the first stance, would again be on the road,” they threatened.

The conference, which started in the afternoon and ran well into the night, had not been addressed by JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman till our going to the press.

The well-attended conference, which started in the afternoon and ran well into the night, had not yet been was yet to be addressed by JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman when this report was filed by mid-night.
