LOWER DIR: The local health authorities on Monday disclosed that 11 dengue cases had so far been reported in the Lower Dir district.
The disclosure came at a meeting chaired by deputy commissioner Mohammad Arif Khan.
District health officer Dr Wali Khan, medical superintendent of District Headquarters Hospital, Timergara, Dr Ali Asghar, district entomologist Abdul Waris, representatives of local government and other departments were in attendance.
The meeting was informed that an isolation ward had been set up for dengue patients at the DHQ Hospital.
DC Arif Khan directed the stakeholders to launch a special campaign against dengue through print, electronic and social media platforms.
He also urged the prayer leaders to play their active role in making the people to take precautionary measures against the vector-borne disease.
SCHOOL BUILDING: The elders of Banda Talash village on Monday complained the delay in reconstruction of a government high school, whose dilapidated building was demolished two years ago to be rebuilt.
Talking to reporters, they said hundreds of students were forced to attend classes in the open for want of building.
The elders said the contractor stopped work on the building due to unavailability of funds. They pointed out that several meetings were held with the high-ups of the education department and the district administration, urging them to ensure early reconstruction of the school, but to no avail.
The elders demanded of the minister for elementary and secondary education to take notice of the matter.
COMPLAINT: Maulana Masihullah, a resident of Samar Bagh area, has complained his application for financial assistance from Pakistan Baitul Mal could not be processed as the post of the managing director post was lying vacant.
Talking to reporters here on Monday, he said he submitted an application for financial assistance with the PBM office in Islamabad two months ago, but was yet to get the assistance as the MD was not available to sign the papers. He said hundreds of aspirants like him were facing difficulty in getting the financial assistance.
The resident demanded of the government to appoint the PBM MD as soon as possible.
