TAXILA: Police in Attock on Sunday resolved the blind murder case of a 15-year-old boy by arresting his two schoolmates for allegedly killing him after sexually molesting him and throwing the body into a dam in the limits of Bassal police station.

A spokesman for the Attock police Sub-Inspector Juanid Ahmed said Mohammad Hashim, a student of grade 9, went missing after attending his school on August 24. Police registered a case and launched a haunt to trace the missing boy. The next day, his body was found floating in the local dam. He added that after autopsy, it was revealed that the victim was gang raped before being strangled to death. Police through human and digital intelligence took into custody his two school mates identified as Amir Hamza and Mohammad Zeeshan who during interrogation confessed that they took their friend Hashim to the dam after attending school on the pretext of bathing where they gang raped him and later strangled him to death. Both the teenagers have also confessed that they had thrown the bag, clothes and shoes of the boy into the dam after putting stones in the bag.

One killed, two injured

One person was killed and two others were injured critically in in various parts of Attock on Monday, police and rescue sources said.

In the first incident, a man was shot dead over an old enmity in broad daylight in Peerzai village in the limits of Hazro police station.

According to sources, 46-year-old Tariq Mehmood was going to work when two masked men intercepted him in a street near his house and showered bullets on him.

He died on the spot, and his body was shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for autopsy. In the second incident, a 30-year-old man was shot and injured over a land dispute in Behbudi village.

Police sources said Nasir Ali was working in his fields when his rival fired at him. He sustained three bullet wounds and was injured critically. The assailants managed to escape from the crime scene.

Separately, a motorcyclist was injured critically in a head-on collision with a passenger van on Jand- Basal road near Gandakass in the limits of Jand police station.

The injured, Mumtaz Ahmed, was shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Jand in a critical condition.
