TOBA TEK SINGH: An alleged robber involved in over two dozen dacoities, identified as Baba Muhammad Ashfaq of Lahore, was killed on Tuesday in an encounter with Samundri police, Faisalabad.

According to police, at a picket near Chak 139-GB, officials stopped two motorcycles carrying five riders. The suspects took cover in nearby bushes and opened fire on the police, who retaliated.

When the gunfire ceased, one of the suspects was found injured and was shifted to Samundri THQ hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police said the suspect was killed by bullets fired by his own accomplices.

Four other suspects fled, but two, identified as Yasin of Sahianwala and Bilal of Jhang, were later arrested. Both were involved in numerous robberies.

ELECTROCUTED: A labourer, Shahid Siddiq (22), was electrocuted on Tuesday while working on the construction of a wall near the old general bus stand on Darbar Mai Baap Road, Shorkot, Jhang.

Reports said Shahid accidentally touched a live electricity wire running alongside the wall. He received an electric shock and died instantly after falling into the street.

CLINIC SEALED: Following the death of Afzal Bhaggiana, after treatment by a quack in Chak 737-GB, Kamalia, Deputy District Health Officer Dr Asim Ejaz sealed the clinic on Tuesday.

However, quack Riaz fled the village prior to the action.

An official said the case had been forwarded to the Punjab Health Commission for further legal action against the quack.
