KARACHI: A passer-by and suspected robber were shot dead in an encounter off Superhighway on Tuesday, police said.

Superhighway Industrial Area SHO Shahzad Ilyas said that two armed pillion riders were looting a bike rider at Al-Noor Society when a patrolling police party reached there. On seeing the police, the suspects resorted to firing.

In an ensuing exchange of gunfire, one suspect was gunned down while his accomplice suffered bullet wounds. However, the wounded suspect fled by snatching a motorcycle of a citizen, abandoning his own motorcycle there.

The officer said that Kashif Shah, a passer-by who was on a motorcycle, was also shot in the firing allegedly carried out by the robbers. He suffered a bullet wound on his abdomen and was taken to a nearby hospital where he died during treatment.
