SHANGLA: A man and his eight-month-old daughter died and nine others sustained injuries when a pickup van collided with a rickshaw in Janrai Shang area of Bisham tehsil here on Wednesday morning.

A Rescue 1122 official said that the van on way to Thakot collided with a rickshaw coming from the opposite direction. He said that the three-wheeler was carrying a family for receiving stipend under the Benazir Income Support Programme from Chakesar area. The official said that the accident left 11 passengers from both the vehicles injured. He said that the rickshaw caught fire after the collision.

The official said that a rescue team immediately reached the spot, put out the fire, retrieved the injured persons from it and shifted them to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Bisham.

The rescue official said that two of the injured, Khaista Khan, 56, and his daughter, eight-month-old Waresha of Dawoot area of Chakesar, succumbed to their injuries.
