LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved a proposal to increase the number of provincial border posts.

Chairing a law and order meeting here on Wednesday, the CM also directed the police authorities to immediately conduct special training of the police personnel posted at border posts.

“Strengthen and improve border security at check-posts beside restructuring and modernizing the Border Military Police. Bullet-proof vehicles and bullet-proof jackets should be provided to the force,” she said and also directed the police high- ups to take indiscriminate action against criminals and anti-social elements.

She said police patrol should be ensured between check-posts.

The chief minister asked police officers to ensure foolproof security on Eid Milad. She directed relevant authorities to install body cameras on police personnel on duty, and intensify the campaign to eliminate illegal arms from the province.

She approved a grant of Rs1 billion for the police force. The chief secretary, home secretary, IG Police, additional IG and other police officers were present in the meeting.
