International Industries Limited (IIL) is proud to announce the successful completion of the solarisation of two schools under The Citizens Foundation (TCF) network — the IIL Campus and the Chinoy Campus. This initiative underscores IIL’s dedication to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7, which aims to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all.

By transitioning the two schools to solar power, IIL not only reduces their reliance on non-renewable energy sources but also lowers operational costs and contributes to a cleaner, greener environment. This step highlights the company’s commitment to fostering renewable energy solutions that benefit both local communities and the environment.

In addition to its community-based solarisation efforts, IIL has taken bold steps to reduce its dependence on expensive energy options. The company has commissioned 3MW and 1MW solar energy systems at its Karachi and Sheikhupura manufacturing facilities respectively, bringing the total installed capacity to 4MW. This initiative is a significant move toward sustainable operations, ensuring that IIL reduces its reliance on non-renewable energy sources while cutting operational costs and reducing its carbon footprint.

“At IIL, we believe that access to clean energy is fundamental to sustainable development,” said Zain K Chinoy, director of global businesses at IIL. “The solarisation of the IIL and Chinoy campuses is just one example of how we are contributing to a greener future by empowering communities and protecting the environment. We remain committed to driving renewable energy solutions as part of our long-term sustainability goals.”

The solarisation of the TCF schools and the company’s industrial facilities is part of IIL’s broader strategy to integrate sustainable energy solutions into its operations and community efforts, reinforcing its leadership in environmental responsibility.

Founded in 1948, IIL is Pakistan’s leading manufacturer of steel, stainless steel, and plastic pipes, and a key proponent of sustainable practices across its operations. IIL is committed to driving innovation and contributing to a cleaner, greener future through its focus on renewable energy, water conservation, and waste management.
