RAWALPINDI: Two suspected robbers were killed in an encounter with police in Naseerabad on Wednesday night. However, two of their accomplices managed to escape.

Police claimed to have recovered looted cash and mobile phones from the deceased.

Police spokesman said that following a robbery incident, the police was alerted in the area on Wednesday night.

The encounter between police and suspected robbers started when the latter signalled four suspects riding on two motorcycles to stop but they instead of responding to the police, opened fire on the police during which two of the suspected robbers were killed while their two accomplices managed to escape.

The police have also recovered a motorcycle, a mobile phone and cash which were snatched during a robbery sometime ago. The same gang had robbed a house in Kohsar colony a few days back.

After the encounter, the robbery victim identified the robbers who had raided his house in Kohsar colony, police spokesman said.

Shortly after the encounter was over, the senior police officers reached the spot. Later, the bodies of the suspected robbers were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem. Police raids were underway to arrest the two accomplices of the gang who were at large.

CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani appreciated the Naseerabad police for their quick response and bravery despite the firing of the robbers.
