SHANGLA: The Chakesar tehsil administration on Thursday suspended reconstruction work on the government degree college over the use of substandard material and started an inquiry against the contractor.

The tehsil administration also asked communication and works department to stop payment to the contractor. Following the public complaints, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Chakesar Mohammad Hamid Saddiqui visited the local government degree college to inspect the ongoing construction work.

He said that during the inspection of the under construction college building, he found the building material of substandard quality and ordered the contractor to immediately stop the work.

The AC added that the contractor had also failed to meet the completion date of the construction which was August 30. The assistant commissioner said that an official inquiry had been ordered against the contractor for using poor quality construction material

Moreover, the AC also visited the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) payment disbursement point in Chakesar the other day, and ordered the suspension of service for a day for making adequate arrangements to serve the beneficiaries.

He said that during his inspection, the beneficiaries were found in miserable condition with no provision of seating arrangements and drinking water facility. He directed the BISP in charge to make arrangements for the provision of basic facilities for the beneficiaries and resume the working on Friday (today).
