LOWER DIR/MARDAN/ABBOTTABAD: Girl students secured top positions in the annual examinations of Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) conducted by the boards of intermediate and secondary education of Malakand, Mardan and Abbottabad on Thursday.
According to a notification issued by BISE Malakand, Saba Gul of Arbit College Sakhakot obtained 1,114 marks out of 1,200 and stood first in the board, followed by Muskan Ahmad of the same college with 1,111 marks while the third position went to Guleena Rahim of Advanced Institute of Modern Sciences Sakhakot by getting 1,103 marks.
A total of 36,743 candidates appeared in HSSC Part-I examinations and 31,073 of them were declared successful. The ratio of successful students remained 84.57 per cent.
Similarly, a total of 36,280 candidates appeared in HSSC Part-II examinations and 33,471 of them were declared successful. The ratio of successful students remained 92.44 per cent.
In pre-engineering group, Alamzeb of Islamia College Sadbar Kallay Lower Dir got 1,075 marks and stood first, Madeeha Sani of the same college stood second with 1,070 marks and Umara Gul of Oxford Education Batkhela stood third by obtaining 1,054 marks.
In the humanities group, Sahibzada bagged 1,042 marks and got first position, Safina Begum, a student of a religious seminary Jamia Muhsanat Sangolai Lower Dir stood second with 1,031 and Khalid Khan grabbed third position by securing 1,027 marks.
In science general group, Mohammad Ilyas of Government Higher Secondary School Sarai Bala secured first position with 1,100 marks, Munazza Begum of Arbit College Sakhakot stood second with 1,086 marks and Rumia Khan of the same college remained third with 1,067 marks.
In BISE Mardan, Rimsha Hijjab of Peace School and College Nowshera topped the HSSC examinations by securing 1,147 marks.
Jibran Khan of Quaid-i-Azam College for Boys Mardan obtained second position with 1,146 marks and Faiza Bibi of Muslim Higher Secondary School Gujrat Mardan grabbed third position by getting 1,145 marks.
In pre-engineering group, Shakeeba Ibad of Readers College Swabi secured 1,144 marks, Laiba Shahid of Ghazali College for Women Mardan obtained 1,131 marks and Mohammad Usman Said of Sudhum Science College Rustam Mardan got 1,130 marks and were declared first, second and third position-holders, respectively.
In science group, Umra Sayed of KIPs Girls College Mardan stood first by obtaining 1,090 marks, Sapna Jabeen of Peace Group of School and College Mardan got 1,080 marks and remained second and Sayyed Mohammad of Orbit College Shewa Adda Swabi got third position by obtaining 1,079 marks.
In humanities group, Lubna with 1,095 marks, Habiba Ali with 1,061 marks and Maryam Murad with 1,062 marks stood first, second and third, respectively. All the three position-holders belong to Government College for Women Mardan.
In BISE Abbottabad, girl students of Tameer-i-Watan School and College grabbed all the top positions in the examinations.
All top positions in the humanities group, computer and general science groups were also grabbed by girls.
A total of 31,195 students in the Part II of the annual examination and 31,033 of them were declared successful. Similarly, 30,806 of 42,329 students were declared successful in HSSC Part I.
