INVISIBLE SPEED-BREAKERS: Speed-breakers are designed to ensure smooth flow of traffic, enforce speed limits and maintain order. Their basic design has been modified with time to cater to the changing requirements. In recent times, just painting the road in a specific manner alerts the motorists about the need to slow down. Karachi roads have numerous speed-breakers, but there are no markings, which make them invisible even from a distance of 10 feet. This causes abrupt pressing of the brake pedal, and increases the chances of an accident, which is in sheer contrast to the very concept of having speed-breakers.

GHOST TEACHERS: According to a recent investigation, 6,342 ghost teachers of the Sindh Education Department were found to be receiving monthly salaries without performing their duties. Unfortunately, this is one of the biggest reasons behind the dismal state of affairs afflicting the education system across the province. The relevant authorities should wake up from the deep slumber and do something about the critical issue.

BUMPY RIDES: Roads across Hyder-abad are in a pathetic shape, especially after the recent rains. The bumpy rides as vehicles navigate through potholes and rough patches can lead to backaches, neck strain as well as general discomfort. I hope somebody somewhere will take notice of the difficulties that are being faced by the people and commuters alike.

PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE: The pedestrian bridge near Safari Park has fallen into disrepair. There is a school nearby. Every day, a large number of students carry bags and climb about 40 steps to use the bridge. The bridge is damaged, and has broken side railings that are extremely dangerous, espcially for chil-dren. All pedestrian bridges need to be repaired immediately to avert any harm.
