DERA MURAD JAMALI: Four persons, including a woman, were killed and five injured in two firing incidents in Dera Murad Jamali and Jhal Magsi district, on Thursday.

Police said unknown motorcyclists opened fire at a car in the main bazaar of Dera Murad Jamali, killing a tribal elder, identified as Abdul Rauf Shar, and injuring five others, including a woman.

One of the attackers was also killed when the tribal elder’s security guard opened fire in retaliation. He was identified as Mashoq Ali.

Police said the car hit a shop as the driver lost control of the vehicle, injuring five passers-by.

Police rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and the injured to district hospital.

“The cause of attack was an old enmity between two local tribes,” Nasirabad SSP Fahad Khan Khosa told Dawn.

Meanwhile, a man killed his daughter and her alleged paramour in the name of honour in the Barahja area of Jhal Magsi district.

Farzana and Hussan Bakhsh Magsi received multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot.

The suspect escaped after firing and police were making efforts to arrest him.

The bodies were handed over to the heirs after completing medical formalities.
