KASUR: Three robbers were killed in an alleged encounter with the police near Cinema Mor in the jurisdiction of the Kot Radha Kishan police on Friday.

According to the police, the robbers were shot by their own accomplices during an exchange of gunfire with the police. The authorities also linked the gang to the recent murders of two traders in robbery incidents earlier this month.

The police said they had received information about a robbery and began pursuing a gang of five robbers on two motorcycles in the Kot Radha Kishan area. When they were on Cinema Road, the robbers allegedly opened fire on the police, prompting officials to retaliate. After about half an hour of crossfire, police found three of the robbers critically injured at the scene.

The injured suspects were rushed to the Kot Radha Kishan THQ Hospital where they were pronounced dead due to the severity of their injuries, the police said in a press release.

The deceased were identified as Abbas from Okara, Sameer from Raiwind and Maratab from Bahawalpur.

According to the police, the gang allegedly shot dead trader Sheikh Tanvir on Sept 5 in Mithradas, Phoolnagar, and the killing of trader Furqan on Sept 7 in Dhittay, Chunian, during a robbery.

Police said a triple murder case had been lodged against the accomplices of the robbers that fled away.
