QUETTA: A woman suffering from Congo fever died a day after being hospitalised in the provincial capit, according to hospital officials.

The patient was brought from Musakhail district in critical condition with suspected Congo virus and admitted to the Fatima Jinnah Chest Hospital.

The patient’s blood samples were taken for testing, but she passed away before the result were received.

Meanwhile, Congo virus has been confirmed in samples obtained from another patient admitted to the same hospital.

The 23-year-old patient hailing from Kuchlak, a locality on the outskirts of Quetta city, is currently undergoing treatment.

Only this year, 30 patients have been admitted to the Fatima Jinnah Hospital for the treatment of Congo virus and six have lost their lives.
