TOBA TEK SINGH: A man who shot dead his maid in Basti Ghazi Shah on Jhang-Toba Road on Friday night was critically injured by a mob comprising family and relatives of the deceased woman.

Reports said accused Ghulam Dastgir (50) had called Nasim (45) in the evening to do some kitchen and cleaning tasks as some guests were due. Upset of poor cleaning work, the accused shot her dead after a brief argument.

He hid himself in a room as woman’s relatives and area people rushed into the house. They pulled him out from a hidden place and hit some hard object in his head which left him seriously injured. He was shifted to the Jhang DHQ hospital.

MISSING FILES: Forty-six policemen, all former investigation officers (IOs), were booked by Faisalabad’s Ghulam Muhammadabad police on Saturday on the complaint of SHO Rai Muhammad Arshad for stealing files in dozens of cases they had investigated during their posting in the same police station over the years.

The SHO said in his FIR registered under sections 380 of PPC and 155C of Police Order that during last six years, nine sub-inspectors and 39 ASIs who had performed duties as IOs, had stolen files in more than 100 under-trial cases instead of submitting them to the prosecution branch.

A similar case was also registered a few days ago against six police officials by the Jhang Bazaar police.

SUSPENDED: Jhang Bazaar (Faisalabad) police ASI Allah Daad, two head constables Sajjad and Khurram and constable Arsalan were suspended on Saturday by CPO Kamran Adil for misusing their powers.

They were charged with raiding the house of a citizen Shamsuddin in Saifabad locality to arrest a son of his step-brother who was an accused in a murder case where they had not only tortured him and women folk but also ransacked valuables.
