SAHIWAL: A village matchmaker was allegedly gang-raped by two persons near village 112/7-R on Sunday evening.

Chichawatni Saddar police registered a case against a resident of the same village and his unidentified accomplice under Section 375-A of the PPC, following a complaint by the alleged survivor.

Police arrested the main suspect.

The woman told the police she frequently travels between villages for matchmaking. She was returning from Shah Kot by a bus and later continued on foot to her village when the suspects took her to a nearby house where she was gang-raped.

Despite her screams for help, the house’s remote location prevented anyone from hearing her.

Police have also ordered a medical examination of the woman.

ROBBERIES: Six dacoits injured a 12-year-old boy and a landlord after they resisted.

In the first incident, Naveed Ashraf, an employee of a pharmaceutical company, was riding a motorcycle with his 12-year-old son Hasam, his brother Azan and their friend Shah Zab near Bloom Field Hall School, Fateh Sher Colony. Two robbers tried to stop them, but the group did not comply. The dacoits opened fire, injuring Azan, who was later rushed to Sahiwal Teaching Hospital. The dacoits fled.

In the second incident, four dacoits broke into the home of Nasir in village 129/9-L. They locked the women in a room and looted Rs300,000 and gold. Nasir resisted, and one of the dacoits shot him in the leg before fleeing with the stolen goods.

Fateh Sher police and Dera Rahim police have registered two cases under sections 394, 397, and 393 of the PPC and have launched investigations.

Pakpattan DPO Faisal Shehzad told Dawn that Shahzad Sajid, Javed Siyal, Nasir Ali and Zaman have been arrested.
