KARACHI: Elaborate security arrangements have been made in Karachi and other parts of the province to maintain law and order on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi to be celebrated here on Tuesday (today).

The federal and provincial governments have already announced a public holiday for Tuesday while the Sindh government has announced a ban on pillion riding across the province.

Officials hinted at the possibility that internet connections and cell phone services might be kept suspended on Tuesday particularly in the areas included in the routes of the main processions.

In Karachi, DIG-South Syed Asad Raza told Dawn that two central processions would be taken out — first from Tower to Aram Bagh and second from New Memon Masjid in Boulton Market to Nishtar Park — in which hundreds of thousands of people were expected to participate.
