KARACHI: A 22-year-old man was found dead in Nazimabad on Monday, police said.

Nazimabad SHO Amir Azam said that the body of a youth, later identified as Afshal Shakeel was recovered outside the home of his friend Anas in Nazimabad-3.

The corpse was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors confirmed that he died after consuming some poisonous substance, the SHO said, adding that the family did not want any legal proceedings.

The man worked as a technician at a private hospital. The police recorded statements of his friends who told investigators that Afshal was involved with a girl, but he had been feeling dejected for some time.

The SHO said that it appeared to be a case of suicide, but further investigations were underway.

Meanwhile, a young man was found shot dead in Korangi on Monday morning, police said.

They said that the body and a motorcycle were found along the causeway near Malir Expressway.

The corpse was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he was identified as Azhar Jatoi, 38.
