TAXILA: Two people were killed, and two others were injured in separate incidents within the limits of Taxila and Wah Cantonment police stations on Thursday, according to police and rescue sources.

In the first incident, a woman was killed and two others injured when a speeding trailer, driven recklessly by an unidentified driver, rammed into a motorcycle on GT Road near Jameelabad, within the limits of the Taxila police station. The woman and her two family members were on the motorcycle when the trailer collided with them, crushing her under its wheels. She died instantly, while her two male companions sustained injuries. Taxila police have registered a case against the driver who fled and have launched a hunt to arrest him.

Separately, a man was fatally stabbed by his brother following a domestic dispute in the Gadwal area, under Wah Cantonment police station. According to police, Javid Khan had a heated argument with his brother, Nadir Khan. In a fit of rage, Nadir stabbed Javid to death before fleeing the scene. The body was shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Taxila, for an autopsy. Respective police registered two separate cases and launched a hunt to arrest the fleeing suspects.

11 suspects arrested in police crackdown

Police in a crackdown against gangs involved in criminal activities in three different strikes in Hazro, Hassanabdal and Fatehjang cities, busted three different gangs and netted eleven members. The authorities also recovered stolen booty and weapons utilised in various crimes.

Addressing a press conference at the district police office, District Police Officer Attock Dr Ghais Gull said that the recovery of stolen property valued at Rs7 million, including over Rs3 million in cash, one car, nine stolen motorcycles, several mobile phones, and various weapons.

He further stated that Hazro police dismantled a six-member gang comprising of Waqar, Zahir, Wanab, Ijaz, Saleem, and Ameen, who confessed to their involvement in thirteen robbery and snatching incidents across rural and urban areas. In Fatehjang, police arrested three gang members, Atif, Muneeb, and Haris connected to multiple robberies. Meanwhile, Hassanabdal police busted two gang members, Saif and Dilnawaz, who admitted to involvement in seven theft, robbery, and snatching cases.
