Alleged robber shot dead by citizen

KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead by a citizen in Gulistan-i-Jauhar late on Wednesday night.

According to East district police spokesperson Syed Umair Shah, three suspects attempted to loot a car driver near Munawar Chowrangi.

The citizen took out his pistol and opened fire on them resulting in bullet injuries to one of the suspects while his accomplices managed to escape from the spot.

The injured suspect was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where he was pronounced dead on arrival. He was identified as Munir Rustam.

Meanwhile, a man identified as Manto, 45, was killed during scuffle near Billy’s Tower, Block-18, Gulistan-i-Jauhar early on Thursday morning, said an Edhi Foundation spokesperson. The body was shifted to the JPMC.

A young labourer was gunned down while seven others were wounded when two groups clashed over a plot dispute off Superhighway on Thursday afternoon, said police and rescue services officials.

SITE Superhighway Industrial Area police SHO Shahzad Ilyas said that construction work was underway on a “disputed” plot in Dildar Umrani Goth in Scheme-33.
