QUETTA: Members of the task force, set up to address the civic issues of Chaman, on Friday expressed concern over the absence of teachers, which has left a large number of schools dysfunctional.

A meeting of the task force decided that the schoolteachers not attending their duties would be terminated and new appointments would be made and all schools would be reopened.

Likewise, the issues of local government college will also be addressed.

The meeting was held with Balochistan Assembly Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai in the chair and attended by members of the task force and relevant officials.

It was observed that state-run hospitals in the district faced drug shortage, while doctors were not performing their duties well.

It was decided that essential medicines and other material would be provided to the District Health Headquarters Teaching Hospital.

Moreover, it was decided that specialist doctors and surgeons would be posted in the hospitals with priority accorded to the basic health units.

The meeting noted that a large number of people were trying to obtain their passports after the introduction of one document regime for crossing the border.

However, there were reports of corruption in the passport office, creating problems for people.

It was suggested that Nadra officials would be approached to look into the public complaints.

The task force also took up the issue of illegal deduction from the Income Support Programme stipend of deserving women.

The meeting was informed that fruit and vegetable markets, truck terminals, and other infrastructure would be made operational and the permit system for sugar would be eliminated.
