Two cars gutted in garbage dump fire

KARACHI: A fire erupted in a garbage dump on Saturday evening and engulfed two cars parked nearby in the Defence View area, rescue services officials said.

Rescue-1122 official Hassaan Khan told Dawn that there was a garbage dump at some distance from the parking place of cars in Defence View Phase-I, where some addicts were reportedly taking drugs.

A fire erupted in the garbage, spread to the parking place and engulfed two cars parked there. Both the vehicles were completely destroyed by the blaze.

Area residents informed the fire brigade that sent two fire tenders to put out the blaze.

Rescue workers said that no one was reported injured in the incident.

The exact cause of the fire could not be ascertained till late in the night.
