HYDERABAD, April 2: Scores of displaced families and those who have received eviction notices marched from Hyder Chowk to Press Club where they staged a sit-in on the road to protest against the district government’s action. The protest, organised by Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party (STPP), was also participated by a large number of women and children.
The party’s central leaders, Dr Hameed Memon, Hote Khan Gadhi, Nusrat Channa, Muzaffar Kalhoro and Nandlal Malhi alleged that the eviction was part of a preconceived conspiracy to expel locals from urban areas by uprooting ancient villages in Karachi and Hyderabad.
They said that after demolition of Hosh Nagar, the district government had served eviction notices on the residents of many other villages and colonies. It had not spared even Goth Unnar-Mehrani, which was 100 years old, they said.
They demanded the district government withdraw notices issued to the residents of Unnar Mehrani, Solangi Goth, Latif colony, Qadir Nagar and other villages, rehabilitate displaced families of Hosh Nagar and Latifabad and regularise ancient villages.
SNC: Activists of the Sindh National Council (SNC) staged a protest demonstration on Sunday outside the Hyderabad Press Club against the RBOD contractor and settlement of outsiders in the province.
