MANSEHRA: Tehsil municipal administration here has launched a crackdown on illegal, unregistered and private housing schemes and towns.

“Almost all housing schemes and towns being developed or selling

files are unregistered with and unapproved by district scrutiny committee headed by deputy commissioner,” Mazhar Muzafar Awan, the tehsil municipal officer, told journalists here on Sunday.

He said that a crackdown was launched on illegal housing schemes as almost all of them were fleecing innocent people through fake allotment letters and files. “We have sealed offices and also lodged FIR against Paradigm City housing scheme which didn’t acquire land, but started selling plots through files,” he said.

Mr Awan said that people should avoid buying plots from all those housing schemes.

“We have made public names of all 14 private housing schemes and towns in tehsil and initiated legal proceedings against them,” he added.

He said that influential land grabbers were also involved in launching those so-called housing schemes to deprive people of their hard-earned money.

He said that his department also initiated legal formalities for the arrest of owners of unregistered housing schemes.

“The provincial government promulgated KP Private Housing Scheme Management and Regulation Rules, 2021, and we have served notices on unregistered and unlicensed schemes underneath it,” said Mr Awan.

He said that they displayed lists of all fake and unregistered housing schemes at prominent places in the city and its suburbs.

MAN KILLED: A man was killed over a land dispute in Garhi Habibullah area here on Sunday.

Zaheer Jan received gunshots and was rushed to civil hospital in Garhi Habibullah where doctors pronounced him dead.

The body was handed over to the family after doctors completed medico-legal formalities.

According to police, the deceased was ploughing a disputed piece of land when his rivals showed up and opened indiscriminate firing on him, leaving him seriously injured.

Police after lodging FIR started raids to arrest the accused, who managed to flee after the incident.
