KOHAT: Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights Aftab Alam Afridi has said that the establishment of an industrial zone is under active consideration of the government to empower the youth with essential skills.

Speaking to a tribal jirga in Darra Adamkhel the other day, the minister said that work on promoting agriculture and planting olive groves in the area was also in progress.

Replying to the demands of tribal elders, he told the jirga participants that work on the construction of dams to protect water from wastage was also underway. Besides, he said, the up gradation of hospitals, schools and colleges and establishment of sports facilities in Darra Adam Khel and its eastern village of Jawaki area was also on the agenda of the government.

He assured the jirga that he would talk to the chief minister for the provision of funds to the local municipal administration.

Deputy Commissioner Abdul Akram told the participants that the purpose of holding such sessions was to get the opinions and proposals of the elected local representatives. He said that the provincial government wanted rapid development of the merged districts.

Tehsil Nazim Shahid Bilal Afridi, former parliamentarian Baz Gul Afridi, and other prominent tribal leaders also addressed the participants.

They also pointed out some of the major problems being faced by the people of the area which the minister assured to solve on priority basis.
