PESHAWAR: The directorate of archaeology and museums in collaboration with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority organised a special ‘Tour de Peshawar’ to mark the World Tourism Day on Saturday.

A total of 75 participants, including students, academicians and influencers from various fields, took part in the tour of Peshawar’s landmarks, according to a statement.

During the tour, the participants visited historical sites such as the Peshawar Museum, Sethi House, Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower), Ghor Khatri, Chowk Yadgar, Mahabat Khan Mosque, Kapoor Haveli, Qissa Khwani Bazaar and a number of restaurants and hotels.

Shahid Ali Khan, the chief coordinator of ‘Tour de Peshawar’, said that the purpose of the event was to send a message to the world on the World Tourism Day that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in general and Peshawar in particular were peaceful regions.

He said that the theme for this year’s day was ‘Tourism and Peace.’

Mr Ali stressed the need for collaborative efforts to promote tourism in the region.
