HYDERABAD, April 3: People suffered inconvenience for over 24 hours on account of removal of a power transformer in Hesco’s Saddar sub-division area. There is no electricity in and around the area of the cantonment police station, Akbar chambers and the Saddar bazaar. At around 8pm on Sunday, the transformer developed some fault and Hesco officials claimed that it would be rectified in a few hours.

However, till Monday evening, neither the fault was rectified nor the transformer was replaced.

Normally, Hesco boast of providing trolley transformers in case of major fault but the people of the area saw no trace of a trolley transformer.

Repeated attempts to contact Hesco officials bore no fruit and men attending telephone at the Saddar sub-division office continued to give evasive replies till Monday night, keeping consumers on false hopes.

The SDO of the sub-division, who was contacted on his cellphone, first said the electricity supply would be restored by 6pm and then said by 7pm but after that he switched off his phone.

Subsequently, the Hesco head office was contacted over telephone number 9200007 at 8pm and the official, who attended the phone said: “Round-the-clock provision of electricity to consumers is not the responsibility of Hesco and power consumers should have made alternative arrangements for such situation.”

Ever since the last contact with the SDO, no official concerned is available to give a convincing reply when the electricity supply will be restored.
