NAROWAL: A suspected rapist on Thursday held a constable hostage in a bid to avoid arrest and later a police team rescued the policeman at Bogargal village of Pasrur tehsil.

‘M’ lodged a complaint with the police saying that he was asleep at home along with his family when he heard a noise. Upon investigating, he found ‘R’ sexually assaulting his 34-year-old wife, a mother of four. The suspect fled the scene.

Following the complaint, Pasrur Saddar police registered a first information report against the suspect. Acting on a tip-off, Constable Asad Raza from Pasrur Saddar Police Station was dispatched to arrest him. However, the suspect resisted, took the constable hostage, made a video and posted it on the social media.

In response to a call from the hostage constable, a police team arrived and arrested the suspect.

The video prompted DPO Rana Umar Farooq to take notice of the incident. An inquiry committee, led by DSP Pasrur, has been formed.
