KARACHI: A young man was shot dead by armed robbers in Surjani Town in the wee hours of Thursday morning, police said.

They identified the victim as 25-year-old Faisal Shabbir and said that he was killed in Sector 35 near a local market.

SSP-West Tariq Illahi Mastoi told Dawn that the young man was on his way home from his place of work on a motorcycle at around 2am when armed men, also riding a two-wheeler, intercepted him and tried to snatch the bike from him.

He said that as the youth put up resistance, the robbers fired at him and fled without any loot. He suffered a critical bullet wound and was taken to a hospital where he died during treatment on Thursday afternoon, he added. The police said that a case would be registered on the complaint of the deceased family after the burial of the victim.
