UMERKOT: The bodies of a 32-year-old man and his three children aged between four and eight were found hanging from a tree near Palli Morr (turning) within the jurisdiction of the Bodar Farm police station of Umerkot district late on Friday evening.

The police collected the bodies and took them to a government hospital for a postmortem examination.

The man was identified as Chaman Kolhi and his children as Bhagchand, 8, Hero, 6 and Sohni, 4.

According to the police, Chaman was a farmer and had been at odds with his wife over insufficient income amid poor yield this season. They said Chaman might have hanged his children to death before doing the same with himself.

However, they said, an investigation into the matter was under way to ascertain facts.
