BAHAWALPUR: The 20th Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally would be held from Feb 4 to Feb 9, 2025, in the vast desert touching the boundaries of three districts of Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan of the division.

According to an official handout, this was decided at a meeting chaired by Commissioner Nadir Chattha here on Friday.

The meeting was attended by Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Malik Zaheer Iqbal Channar, former PML-N senator Saood Majid Chaudhry, President 4x4 Racing Club Mahmood Majeed Chaudhry, Cholistan Development Authority Managing Director Tariq Mahmood Bokhari, Tourism Development Corporation Punjab Director Nauman Akram and others while the deputy commissioners of Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan participated in the meeting through video link.

The desert rally is an annual sports event featuring racers and drivers not only from across the country but also from abroad, who wait for it the whole year. The rally is also participated by women drivers from different parts of the country.

Bahawalpur police and personnel of other law enforcing agencies will provide security for the week-long event held in desert area.

Special light arrangements are made during night time around the historic Derawar Fort, which is centre of the colourful events during the rally.

Residential and recreational facilities are also arranged for the thousands of visitors and tourists, also from abroad.

The commissioner informed the meeting participants that during the jeep rally, other sports events, including dirt bike race and truck race would also be organised.
