BAJAUR: Different functions were held here to mark the World Teachers’ Day on Saturday and recognise the contribution of educators in shaping the society.

The functions were held in educational institutions, both public and private, across the district.

The speakers said that the World Teachers’ Day, which was observed on Oct 5 across the globe, was to acknowledge and appreciate the role of teachers in promotion of education in their respective societies.

The speakers said that the theme of this year’s day was ‘valuing teachers’ voices towards a new social contract for education’, focusing on the importance of listening to teachers and involving them in shaping educational policies and practices.

The speakers said the day was meant to extend heartfelt tribute to dedicated educators, who shaped the future by imparting knowledge and inspiring young minds.

They said that the day was also a reminder of the significance of quality education and the role of teachers in achieving it.
