SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: The house of a senior leader of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl was attacked with a hand grenade in Wana area of Lower South Waziristan district here on Saturday evening. However, the inmates remained unhurt, the police said.

They said that unidentified armed men, riding on a motorcycle, hurled a grenade on Maulana Moinuddin’s house. They added that a vehicle was damaged, but there was no loss of life.

The police said that the attackers managed to escape, and an investigation had been launched into the incident.

Maulana Abdullah, JUI-F district president, and general secretary Maulana Rafiuddin Wazir strongly condemned the attack and demanded an investigation by the police and the district administration.

They said that they were concerned about the safety and security of political leaders and their families. They added that it was essential to ensure that such attacks were thoroughly investigated and those responsible brought to justice.

The attack also sparked widespread condemnation from various political and social leaders, who said that the authorities must take immediate action to ensure the safety and security of all citizens, particularly those in public life.

They also highlighted the growing violence against and intimidation of political leaders and activists.
