BAJAUR: Jamaat-i-Islami’s local chapter arranged a condolence reference here on Sunday to pay homage to the two leaders, who died in a road accident in Lower Kohistan district last Monday.

The ‘Pegham-i-Shuhada Conference’ (message of martyrs) was held at JI Markaz-i-Ulum-i-Islamia in Inayat Kallay town.

JI provincial chief Prof Mohammad Ibrahim was the chief guest.

Former MNA from Chitral Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali, religious figure Maulana Mohammad Ismail, JI local chapter emir Sahibzada Haroon Rasheed, deputy chief Haji Sardar Khan, general secretary Mohammad Hameed Sufi, tribal elders and others were in attendance.

The speakers said deaths of JI local chapter deputy chief Qari Abdul Majeed and party’s social media head Mohammad Hayat were an irreparable loss not only for the party but for the entire district.

Mr Majeed, along with Mr Hayat and a policeman, died when his car plunged into a ravine in Jigal area of Lower Kohistan district on Sept 30.

“The sudden deaths of Qari Majeed and Hayat shocked every party worker as both of them were committed workers,” said Prof Ibrahim.

He said both the deceased were a valuable asset of the party, who had dedicated their lives for in the service of people.

“The tragic death of both of them has deprived the JI of committed workers,” said Mr Chitrali.

Maulana Ismail said Qari Majeed had a strong command on both the religious and contemporary knowledge, saying his way of taking was impressive and polite. “I know Mr Majeed for last two decades and I found him a very sincere person.”

The other speakers said both Mr Majeed and Mr Hayat always worked for the party’s cause.

They said Mr Majeed, who was a PhD scholar, had great leadership qualities, saying his tenure as head of JI’s district chapter was a golden period for the party.
