LAHORE: Pakistan Army with three gold medals each in men’s and women’s event led the National Inter-depart­mental Karate Cham­pionship here on Tuesday.

In the men’s section, Usman Shafiq and Irshad Ali won gold medals for Army in below 50kg and individual kata categories. Irshad Ali, Saifullah, Wahid Ullah and Abdul Waheed secured the third gold medal for Army in the team’s event.

Wapda, who claimed three silver medals, are at the second place while the Higher Education Comm­ission (HEC) earned a couple of bronze.

On the women’s side, Anita Batool and Nazanin earned gold medals in the below-45kg category and individual kata, respectively.

Aiman, Hadisa Naznain and Saira Batool won the team kata title, Army’s third gold in the women’s section.

Wapda (one silver, two bronze) grabbed the second position in the women’s section. The HEC (two silver and one bronze) are in third place followed by Railways who seized three bronze medals.
