RAWALPINDI: A total of 150 people with disabilities in Rawalpindi district got financial aid from the Punjab government under the ‘Himmat Card’ programme.

The event organised under the supervision of the Department of Social Welfare and Baitul Mal, Rawalpindi Division.

MPAs Malik Iftikhar, Raja Hanif Advocate, Director of Social Welfare Rana Mohammad Shahid, Anjuman Faizul Islam President Prof Dr Riaz Ahmed and social welfare officials were present.

The first installment of the financial assistance of Rs10,500 along with ATM cards was handed over to the deserving people.

These will be able to withdraw the financial aid through ATM cards from their account in the Bank of Punjab after every three months.

Speakers said such people who could not work due to disability would be given assistance under this special programme launched by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

They said initially 65,000 people would be given this assistance across Punjab, while more deserving people would be given new aid.

Divisional Director Social Welfare Rana Mohammad Shahid said full transparency was being ensured in the financial assistance process for the benefit of beneficiaries.
