TAXILA: Police have arrested five suspects for allegedly burning to death a 24-year-old man in Ikhlas village of Pindigheb on October 2.

The arrested persons included the man’s female friend and her accomplices.

According to a police spokesman, Mohammad Nauman, told police before his death, that he was in a relationship with a woman for the last four years. She called him to meet her in the house of her friend. When he reached there, he fell unconscious after drinking water. Later, his friend, a woman, her husband and son doused him in petrol and set him on fire.

Hearing his screams, passersby reached there and rushed him to the hospital from where he was shifted to Military Hospital Rawalpindi. The injured died in the hospital on October 3.

“As the man refused to marry the woman due to unknown reasons, she along with her accomplices plotted to take revenge,” said Sub- Inspector Mohammad Nisar.
